Ernst Ackermann (civil servant)

Ernst Ackermann (born July 14, 1875 in Tietzow , Belgard district , Köslin district , Pomerania province ; † 1951 ) was a German civil servant who was director of the Deutsche Reichsbahn and, most recently, ministerial conductor in the Reich Ministry of Transport in 1939 .

Life

After attending school, Ackermann completed his studies and completed his doctorate as Dr. Ing. From. In 1899 he became a government building supervisor and in 1903 a government master builder before he became a railway construction inspector in 1909. During the First World War he was in the field railway service between 1914 and 1918 and was made official in 1917. After the end of the war he was transferred to the Prussian Ministry of Public Works as a government councilor and building officer in 1918 and at the same time a member of the Central Railway Authority. In 1919 he became a member of the Berlin Railway Directorate as Ministerialrat and Secret Building Councilor, which in 1920 became the Berlin Railway Directorate .

In 1920 he became a ministerial advisor for car construction in the department E VII responsible for workshops in the Reich Ministry of Transport (RVM), which became its mechanical engineering department when the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft was founded in 1924. In 1937, Ackermann moved back to the RVM in direct state administration when the Reichsbahn was taken over. His last position was in 1939 as a ministerial director in the mechanical engineering department of the RVM and retired in 1940. From 1920 to 1940 he was responsible for the entire development of the railroad car construction for over 20 years. Ackermann died in 1951.

Honors

The TH Karlsruhe awarded him an honorary doctorate .
