Surname

The place name Tyczewo / Tietzow should be derived from the yew tree (Latin: Taxus baccata ).

Local history

Tietzow was an old fiefdom of those of verse . In 1798 it was bought by Georg Friedrich Carl von Belling. It was then owned by Carl Wahrendorf and, in 1846, by Gerhard von Alten. In 1918 it was taken over by the von Rekowsky family, who ran the estate until 1945.

At the end of the 19th century, Tietzow was hit by a wave of emigration. In 1873 a total of 69 people left the village on their way to Brazil . They found a new home in the settlement of Brusque in the province of Santa Catarina . Many descendants still live there today.

In 1865 there were 320 inhabitants in Tietzow with 20 residential houses and 45 farm buildings. The population decreased to 221 people in 21 households by 1939. In 1931 the community area totaled 1281.5 hectares. The last German mayor was Ewald Jeske.

Until the end of the war, Tietzow and the municipality of Warnin (now in Polish: Warnino) formed the administrative and civil registry district of Warnin in the district of Belgard (Persante) . The village belonged to the district court area Belgard , and the police matters were regulated by the Landjägermeister from Groß Tychow (Tychowo).

As a result of the war , Tietzow became Polish. The local population was displaced . Today, about 50 people live in Tyczewo who belong to the Gmina Tychowo in the powiat Białogardzki .

church

Until 1945 Tietzow had its own church and belonged to the parish Schwellin in the parish of Bublitz in the church province of Pomerania of the Protestant church of the Old Prussian Union . The patronage of the church lay with the von Rekowsky family.

Today Tyczewo belongs to the parish Koszalin ( Köslin ) in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
