Czarnkowo (German Zarnekow, Belgard district ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It belongs to the municipality of Tychowo ( Groß Tychow ) in the Białogard ( Belgard ) district.

Geographical location

Czarnkowo is located southeast of Tychowo and can be reached in twelve kilometers via a side road to Grzmiąca ( Gramenz ) in the Drzonowo Białogardzkie ( Drenow ) junction . The nearest train stations are Wielanowo ( Villnow ) and Tychowo on the Szczecinek – Kołobrzeg railway line .

Place name

The name of the village allows three interpretations: either it is derived from the personal name Carnek ("who belongs to carny (= black)"), or it can mean "czarny" = "black forest" when read, or it comes from Personal name Carnek to "sarna" = "deer".

Local knowledge

The former manor Zarnekow is located three kilometers northeast of Drzonowo Białogardzkie ( Drenow ) on a plateau 126 meters above sea level.

The place used to be owned by von Kleist . In 1851 Karl Friedrich Ferdinand Koch acquired the estate and passed it on to Karl Heinrich Keske zu Bublitz (now Polish: Bobolice) eleven years later . In 1928 Zarnekow was incorporated into the rural community of Drenow .

The mayor of the municipality was the Drenower estate administrator Nest until 1945. The community belonged to the administrative and civil registry district Groß Tychow (Tychowo) in the district of Belgard (Persante) . Today Czarnkowo belongs to Gmina Tychowo in the powiat Białogardzki .

Ecclesiastically the village was parish in the parish Naseband . It belonged to the church district Belgard of the ecclesiastical province of Pomerania of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Karl-Heinrich Reimer.

Today Czarnkowo belongs to the parish Koszalin ( Köslin ) in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Polish Evangelical-Augsburg Church .

Zarnekow had its own village school. In 1928, eleven girls and five boys were taught here.
