The Pomeranian Kieckow, mentioned in a document as early as 1477, is an old manor village that has been closely associated with the name of the von Kleist family since the village was founded , who owned the Kieckow estate until the end of the Second World War . Initially still a farming village with several half and full farmers jobs, these were relocated to Groß Tychow and Klein Krössin, so that Kieckow became a pure estate village. Kieckow was closely connected to Klein Krössin, as both goods were owned by von Kleist.

In the 18th century there was still a watermill on the Leitznitz, which was later replaced by a windmill.

The “rescue house” built in Kieckow in 1850 became known beyond the Pomeranian region and was named the “Elisabeth” foundation after Queen Elisabeth , the wife of Friedrich Wilhelm IV . Orphaned and vulnerable boys between the ages of six and fourteen were accepted. By the end of 1926, 727 boys found a new home here.

In 1856 there were 18 houses in Kieckow. In the 1939 census, 88 households were counted. The community area was then 1560 hectares. In addition to the estate, there were some sideline jobs.

Until 1945, Kieckow belonged to the district of Zadtkow (today in Polish: Sadkowo ) and to the registry office district of Groß Tychow. The competent district court was in Belgard. The last incumbents were Mayor Gerlach, Head of Department Fiek and registrar Treichel.

Towards the end of World War II , Red Army troops occupied Kieckow in early March 1945 . A stretch of refugees that had previously set out was caught up by the Soviet front after 40 kilometers and sent back. The last landlord on Kieckow and Klein Krössin, Hans Jürgen von Kleist-Retzow, was abducted by the Russians despite his active Nazi resistance activities and only released to Germany in 1947 after two years of imprisonment.

After Hinterpommern was placed under Polish administration after the Russian occupation , a Polish authority from Groß Tychow (Tychowo) took over the management of the former Kieckow estate. In the ensuing time, the residents were out of the place sold .

Kikowo is now part of the rural community of Tychowo .

church

Until 1821 Kieckow was an independent parish a daughter parish of Groß Tychow (today: Tychowo ). When the parish Neu Buckow ( Bukówko ) was integrated into the parish , Kieckow was only preserved as a chapel parish. In 1818 the old church was demolished because it was in disrepair. In 1848 the lord of the manor Hans Hugo von Kleist-Retzow built a new chapel: a brick building with a stone foundation, a small choir extension and a turret structure.

Until 1945 the parish belonged to Tychowo Kirchenkreis Belgard of the ecclesiastical province of Pomerania in the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German pastor was Werner Braun.

Today Kikowo is in the parish Koszalin (Köslin) of the Polish Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland . The place of the church is Białogard.
