Local knowledge

The Pomeranian Vietzow was - like the neighboring Wutzow - of Wendish origin. As early as 1250, the place was owned by a family whose name was unknown. It is said to have been a "knight-citizen" who had to defend Belgard Castle in the event of war . In addition, Vietzow was liable to tax at the Belgarder Schloss.

In 1445 Lüdeke Clest is named as the owner of Vietzow. Except for the period between 1860 and 1922, when Vietzow was owned by the von Rhoeden family, the place belonged to the von Kleist family until 1945 .

The estate mainly cultivated light to medium-heavy soils. Large areas of cultivation were provided with wheat and clover. Most of the potato harvest was processed in the estate's own distillery. In addition, a sawmill, a brickworks and the sheep farm in Karlshof (Sławomierz) belonged to the estate.

In 1856 there were 312 inhabitants in Vietzow with the two Vorwerke Karlshof (Sławomierz) and Neuhof (Trzebiec). In 1939 the number rose to 387 citizens in 91 households. The last town mayor was Bruno Buhrke until 1945.

Vietzow belonged with the communities Bolkow and Wutzow to the registry office district Wutzow. The competent district court was in Belgard , and the police force was exercised by the Landjägermeister in Wutzow.

In early March 1945, Soviet troops occupied the place. A trek that was put together at short notice was already caught up and wiped out by Russian units in Klaptow shortly after Koerlin (Karlino). As a result of the war, Vietzow came into Polish hands. The German population had to leave the village, even if there was a good understanding between them and the Polish mayor Reinecke - an exception at the time. Vietzow is now called Wicewo a district of Gmina Tychowo in the powiat Białogardzki .

District Vietzow

Until 1945, Vietzow and the municipality of Wutzow formed a separate district of Vietzow in the Belgard district (Persante) . The last German head of office was Erich Siefert.

church

Parish

Vietzow belonged until 1945 with Ballenberg (Biała Góra), Bergen (Góry), Bolkow (Bolkowo), Lankow (Łąkówko) and Wutzow (Osówko) to the parish of Woldisch Tychow (Tychówko). It was in the parish of Belgard in the church province of Pomerania of the Protestant Church of the Old Prussian Union .

Most recently, the manor owner Baron von Rhoeden held the church patronage. The last German clergyman was Pastor Alfred Bidder, who died in Belgard on May 12, 1943 .

Today Wicewo belongs to the parish Koszalin ( Köslin ) in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

chapel

The Vietzow Chapel was a house of worship owned by the estate . It was erected above the family crypt and was available for church services in the village community.

The chapel was originally from 1573, but was rebuilt from brickwork in a neo-Gothic style in 1834 . The polygonal tower was crowned by a tall, slender, pointed roof. The von Kleist coat of arms is still visible above the door.

school

In Vietzow there was a schoolhouse with a teacher's apartment that had been provided by the estate.
