Sünje Lewejohann

Sünje Lewejohann (* 1972 in Flensburg ) is a German writer .

Life

Lewejohann grew up in a village near Flensburg and went to the Danish grammar school Duborg-Skolen . After graduating from high school in 1992, she studied Scandinavian and German studies in Kiel and Berlin. The Flensburg author began to write professionally in 2000. From 2002 to 2005 she was a student at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig and from 2004 to 2005 she was co-editor of the literary magazine Edit (magazine) . She is also a member of the authors' forum Der Goldene Fisch . In 2003 Lewejohann took part in the final round of the Open Mike competition at the Berlin Literature Workshop and in the Ingeborg Bachmann competition in Klagenfurt . There she submitted her story Im Fernschatten , which was characterized by numerous parataxes . In 2004 she received a scholarship from the Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop as well as a scholarship from the Arno Schmidt Foundation and the Nordkolleg Rendsburg .

Her debut novel, a novel about the fictional village “Munk”, was published in 2005 under the title On Sunday God wants to catch his breath . In the same year, the school graduate took part in the Prosanova literature festival in Hildesheim . Five years later, in 2010, she received the Alfred Gruber Prize at the Merano Poetry Prize for a selection of her poems. In 2013 she followed her first volume of poetry with the title In den Hirschen .

Sünje Lewejohann is the mother of two children and now lives in Berlin .
