Otto Casimir von Versen
Otto Ernst Kasimir von Versen (born September 30, 1705 at Gut Tietzow ; † November 11, 1774 at Gut Reinfeld ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the "Holstein" dragoon regiment .
Life
origin
His parents were the heir of Tietzow Friedrich Wilhelm von Versen (* March 6, 1665; † May 5, 1715) and his wife Anna Sophie, born von Hagen (* October 12, 1680; † February 2, 1745). She was the daughter of the Prussian Major General Hans Joachim von Hagen .
Military career
Versen was initially a cadet in Berlin . He was employed on September 22, 1725 as a Junker in the "von Platen" Dragoon Regiment of the Prussian Army . As a second lieutenant he joined the newly formed "von Platen" dragoon regiment in mid-April 1741 , became a staff captain in the same year and rose to captain and company commander on October 30, 1742 . As such, he took part in the battle of Kesselsdorf during the campaign in 1744/45 . Versen advanced to major and was deployed during the Seven Years' War in the battle of Groß-Jägersdorf , where he was wounded and two horses were lost. In the battle of Krefeld he received a contusion , after which he fought in the battle of Bergen and Minden . He received thanks from the king for his bravery. Then he fought in 1760 at Liegnitz . During the war, Versen was appointed regimental commander in January 1759 and promoted to colonel on May 1, 1759 . On April 27, 1763, he retired as major general and retired to his Reinfelde estate, where he died in 1772.
family
Versen married Elisabeth von Sydow († January 1, 1766) from the Hanseberg family in 1735 . He had 23 children with her, only one of whom survived:
- Albertine ∞ Count Friedrich Wilhelm von Sparr (born January 15, 1737 - † December 3, 1814)
His second wife was Helena von der Osten (born October 19, 1726, † July 14, 1781). She was the daughter of the Chamber President Matthias Konrad von der Osten , hereditary lord on Plate. The couple had no other children.
