Ernst Bezemek was born in Hollabrunn as the son of the welfare worker Ernst Bezemek and his wife Gertrude. He attended elementary school in his home town of Breitenwaida and the municipal high school in Hollabrunn, where he successfully graduated from the upper school in 1967. During his school days, he was also seized by a passion for football, a sport in which he would later make a name for himself over many years, especially as a referee.

In the winter semester of 1968/69, he began studying law, which he finished in January 1969 for family reasons. He completed his training as a career advisor at the Horn employment office, but finally decided in 1970 to study history and German in Vienna. He earned his living from teaching history and German at the Roland Maturaschule and as a porter in the Pfeilheim dormitory.

On December 17, 1977 Ernst Bezemek received his doctorate with the dissertation supervised by Ludwig Jedlicka The elections of November 25, 1945 in Lower Austria to the doctorate. phil. Another publication followed in 1983 together with Otto Klambauer , which dealt with the USIA companies (a network of around 300 companies in the Russian occupation zone) in Lower Austria, before the study on the Nazi takeover of power in Lower Austria appeared in 1985 . In addition to a series of independent publications, Ernst Bezemek has been the editor of modern district and local chronicles since 1993. Past and present in his work . He refuted supposedly established doctrinal opinions as a result of modern source analyzes for the Hollabrunn district and its communities . The article written by Ernst Bezemek himself, The Long Path to Freedom. The Hollabrunn district under Soviet occupation also appeared in handbooks of Austrian history.

After his retirement in 2005, Ernst Bezemek stayed at the Lower Austrian Regional Studies Association as Vice President. Scientific excursions and bus trips are particularly important to him. He has also been the curator of the Hollabrunn municipal museum since 1993.
