Roman Sandgruber (born February 20, 1947 in Rohrbach ) is an Austrian historian and director of the Institute for Social and Economic History at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz .

Live and act

Sandgruber studied history , German studies and economics at the University of Vienna from 1965 to 1971 and was a contract and university assistant at the same university from 1972 to 1988. In 1982 he completed his habilitation . Since 1988 he has been a full professor at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at Johannes Kepler University.

Sandgruber is a member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and was chairman of the senate of the University of Linz from 1996 to 1998. From 1998 to 2003 he was a member of the Austrian Commission of Historians .

Since 1968 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KÖHV Amelungia Vienna in the ÖCV .
