Heinrich Gustav von Zschüschen

Heinrich Gustav von Zschüschen (born May 23, 1806 in Wolmirstedt , † August 19, 1881 in Wiesbaden ) was a royal Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the 63rd Infantry Regiment .

Life

origin

He came from a family that was ennobled in 1792 . His parents were Heinrich Wilhelm von Zschüschen (born April 27, 1778; † June 2, 1855) and his wife Johanna Karoline Hilzenbecher (born January 10, 1773; † December 31, 1831), widowed von Uckermann. His father was Colonel a. D. and finally in the 28th Infantry Regiment .

Career

He joined the 28th Infantry Regiment on June 15, 1821 as a fusilier. There he was appointed portepeef ensign on October 21, 1823 and second lieutenant on April 16, 1825 . In 1830 he was posted to the Infantry Training Battalion. After his return he came in 1833 to the 28th Landwehr Regiment, where he was employed as adjutant and accounting officer of the 1st battalion in Cologne . From 1843 to 1844 he was a company commander in the III. Battalion in Siegburg . During that time he was promoted to Premier Lieutenant on July 22, 1843 . On August 26, 1848, he joined the 28th Infantry Regiment as a captain and company commander. There he was promoted to major on November 10, 1855 . He was transferred to the 25th Landwehr Regiment on November 13, 1856, where he became the commander of the II battalion in Malmedy . Promoted to lieutenant colonel on July 1, 1860 , he joined the 63rd Infantry Regiment as commander on June 22, 1861. He was promoted to colonel on October 18, 1861 , on January 12, 1864 with the Order of the Red Eagle 3rd Class with Ribbon and on March 19, 1864 with the Russian Order of St. Anne, 2nd Class. On April 3, 1866, he was put up for disposal with the character of major general and a pension .

During the mobilization for the Franco-Prussian War he was appointed deputy commander of the 41st Infantry Brigade on July 18, 1870 . He was released from this position on July 11, 1871, and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves , on October 13, 1871 . He died on August 19, 1881 in Wiesbaden.

In his assessment of 1847, his battalion commander wrote : A thoroughly moral, scientifically educated, extremely active and prudent officer who, through his five-month leadership of the 4th Company, has fully demonstrated his ability to be an excellent company chief. He deserves to be recommended especially for transportation other than the tour.

family

He married Julie Feist on December 16, 1845 in Cologne (* June 20, 1822 - August 22, 1898), a daughter of Dr. med. Jacob Feist.
