Ernst Casimir of Nassau-Weilburg (* 15. November 1607 in Saarbrücken , † April 16 . Jul / 26 April 1655 greg. In Weilburg ) the founder who was younger line Nassau-Weilburg .
Life
He was the second youngest son of Count Ludwig II of Nassau-Weilburg-Saarbrücken and his wife Anna Maria von Hessen-Kassel (1567–1626). Ludwig II was able to unite all the Nassau-Walram counties . After his death in 1627, the inheritance was divided among the four still living brothers in 1629: the eldest Wilhelm Ludwig (1590–1640) got Nassau-Saarbrücken , Johann Nassau-Idstein , Ernst Casimir Nassau-Weilburg and Otto the rule of Kirchheim . Since the last two were still too young, the lands were initially administered by Wilhelm Ludwig.
Ernst Casimir's share was Weilburg , Merenberg , Gleiberg , Hüttenberg , Reichelsheim (Wetterau) , after the death of his brother Otto, in 1632 Kirchheim, Stauf , Bolanden and parts of Homburg were added.
Even later, Ernst Casimir was not often in his country. In 1634 he fled to Metz before the Thirty Years' War and only returned after the Peace of Westphalia . But it took some time until all claims were enforced.
The Gotha Treaty of March 6, 1651, in which the division of inheritance from 1629 was confirmed and adjusted again , also falls into this period.
