Ernst Falk

Ernst Falk (born April 29, 1914 in Unterickelsheim ; † April 15, 1994 there ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

Falk, who was of Protestant faith, initially worked in his parents' farm after attending elementary school and advanced training school . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War. On April 4, 1945, he was taken prisoner of war, from which he was released in autumn that year. After returning to Unterickelsheim, he worked again in his parents' company.

politics

Falk was mayor of Martinsheim from 1948 to 1964 . He was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1950 to 1962 and from October 14, 1965, when he replaced Albrecht Haas , to November 10, 1965, when he resigned his mandate . On June 28, 1953, he reacted to the "Ochsenfurt incident", in which a few hours earlier the Roman Catholic Bishop of Würzburg Julius Döpfner had refused to allow a subsequent Protestant ordination to be held during the consecration of the local sugar factory, with a sharp speech to the a good 8,000 festival guests, in which he not only called for denominational equality, but also literally asked the question: "Is it that time again that we Protestant Christians are second class?" This protest speech led to tumultuous scenes in the small town of Ochsenfurt in Lower Franconia .
