Life

Ernst Ferdinand Rückert, a doctor known as a student of Samuel Hahnemann , was born in 1795 as the son of the Evangelical Lutheran pastor Johann Ernst Rückert in Großhennersdorf. Rückert's grandfather, city physicist Christian Ehrenfried Rückert from Neustadt (Upper Silesia), as well as his father and his younger brothers gained attention through their professional work. The brothers were the theologian Leopold Immanuel Rückert , the doctor Theodor Johannes Rückert, and the vice-principal at the Zittau grammar school Heinrich Moritz Rückert.

Ernst Ferdinand Rückert attended school in Niesky until 1812 , from where he went to Leipzig to study theology. In the following year he changed the subject and studied medicine in Leipzig until 1816. From 1816 he continued his studies in the "Medical Surgical Academy" Dresden . Finally he received his doctorate in Jena in 1817.

After completing his studies, Rückert tried to work as a doctor in Grimma, Mutzschen and Bernstadt with little success. Finally he settled in Löbau, closer to his old home. From 1822 to 1829 Rückert then worked as a private tutor, including in Livonia . In 1829 he traveled to Koethen, where the homeopath Samuel Hahnemann celebrated his 50th anniversary as a doctor. Rückert, a former student of Hahnemann at the University of Leipzig , now spent several months in his service, where he wrote his unpublished homeopathic reference work on "Chronic Diseases".

Inspired by his work at Hahnemann, he first began practicing as a homeopathic doctor in Bautzen and Kamenz. As a doctor for the family of Count Hohenthal zu Königsbrück, he found his last station in life. There he died of a lung disease at the age of 48.
