Leopold Immanuel Rückert (born February 1, 1797 in Großhennersdorf ( Oberlausitz ), † April 9, 1871 in Jena ) was a Protestant theologian .

Life

Rückert attended the pedagogy in Niesky in 1809 and, from 1812, the Zittau high school . From 1814 he studied theology and philosophy at the University of Leipzig , where he passed his first theological examination in 1817. In the following year he also passed the second theological exam and then worked as a private teacher. He became pastor in Jüterbog and finally in 1819 a deacon in his birthplace Großhennersdorf. From 1825 he worked as a teacher, sub-rector and from 1840 as vice rector at the grammar school in Zittau and in 1844 accepted a call as a full professor of theology at the University of Jena . From 1844 he was a member of the university's senate and was dean of the theological faculty a total of 18 times until his retirement. In 1858 he became third director of the theological seminar at the University of Jena. Rückert died as a Privy Councilor on April 9, 1871 in Jena.
