Ernst Fulda

Ernst Fulda (born November 21, 1885 in Sangerhausen ; † June 24, 1960 in Weimar ) was a German mining official . Most recently, he headed the Technical District Mining Inspection (TBBI) in Staßfurt (before 1946 Berginspektion Staßfurt).

Live and act

Ernst Fulda was the son of the high school director Albert Fulda, who died early, and grew up in the family of Ewald Grau, the co-founder of the Rosarium in Sangerhausen. In 1904 he got a job as a mining enthusiast at the Oberbergamt Halle , with part of the training taking place in the Zeitz mining district . During his studies in Göttingen he became a member of the Brunsviga fraternity in 1905 . In 1909 he graduated as a mountain trainee and in 1913 as a mountain assessor. As such, he became a research assistant at the Mansfeld copper-slate-building union in Eisleben .

He mapped - partly in collaboration with Kurd von Bülow and Walter Schriel - the Goldene Aue , the Frankenhausen Basin as well as the Upper Carboniferous and Red Layers on the Kyffhäuser .

After the First World War , in 1920 he took the position of head of the Zechstein department at the Prussian Geological Institute, where he worked until 1945, where he was promoted to Bergrat and also received his doctorate. From 1945 he headed the mining inspection in Staßfurt, and in 1954 he retired. In the last years of his life he moved with his wife Käte to his niece in Weimar, where he died in 1960.
