Ernst Gossner

Ernst Gossner (* 1967 in Tyrol , Austria ) is an Austrian director , screenwriter and producer .

Life

Gossner comes from Tyrol. After graduating from high school, Gossner worked as a laborer, radio journalist and bicycle tour guide before he became a theater actor. Within seven years Gossner played dozens of roles in Austria, Italy and Germany. He wrote plays and directed his first short film Escape .

In 1999 Gossner was accepted into the directing program of the American Film Institute (AFI) in Los Angeles . His graduation film was Bar Time . After completing his training at the AFI Conservatory , Ernst founded Vent Productions in Los Angeles. His first feature film, South of Pico , was shot in Los Angeles and premiered at the 2007 American Black Film Festival . The film won all three nominations there and received other awards in the USA, Europe and China.

In 2014 his second feature film, The Silent Mountain, about the mountain war of 1915–1918 , was released, which was preceded in 2011 by the documentary Global Warning .
