Ernst Gottfried Christian Klügel (born November 19, 1737 in Wittenberg , † September 24, 1819 in Wittenberg ) was a German legal scholar.

Life

Ernst Gottfried Christian Klügel was born in Wittenberg in 1737 as the son of Wittenberg councilor and legal faculty assistant Gottlob Christian Klügel . He attended the St. Augustin high school in Grimma and began to study at the University of Wittenberg in 1754 , where he received his doctorate and doctorate in law on June 8, 1759 after his notary exam on January 12, 1759 . At first he devoted himself to legal practice and took part in the administration of his hometown from 1760 to 1766.

After he had obtained the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy on April 30, 1766 , he was made an extraordinary professorship for Saxon law at the university in his hometown that same year . To this end, he acquired the qualification to teach a Magister Legens on April 22, 1767 and read about legal encyclopedia, legal hermeneutics and literature. In 1785 he took over the full professorship of the institutions, rose to the Dignestum informatum et novum in 1787, to the Dignestum vetus in 1790 and to the professorship of the Codex in 1796.

Age and frailty compelled Klügel to have his professorship replaced, as he went blind in 1811 before he died after the Wittenberg University was dissolved. From 1786 he was a part-time assessor of the Court of Justice and from 1790 extraordinary assessor and finally vice-rector of the Wittenberg consistory . Klügel contributed to the history of the university by writing the literary introduction to Christian Siegmund Georgi "Annales Academiae Vitebergensis 1655-1755" and was the rector's office of the Wittenberg Academy in the summer semester of 1801 .
