Ernst Hecker (born September 15, 1907 in Aue (Saxony) ; † November 30, 1983 there ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

After completing school and apprenticeship, Ernst Hecker initially worked as a commercial artist. During this time he formed a self-taught by signs studies (pencil, charcoal and red chalk drawings) in nature on, in 1942, he also went to the Art Academy in Dresden . The portrayal of the beauty of his homeland, the Saxon Ore Mountains, was particularly important to him . In addition to oil paintings with flower and plant motifs, atmospheric landscapes were created, such as melting snow in the Ore Mountains , Sosa Dam , a view of the Upper Ore Mountains , Burkhardtsgrün or a view from Anton-Günther-Platz in Aue . Some of his works were printed in the Saxon Mountain Home Calendar .

Immediately after the end of the Second World War , in 1945 , the exhibition Liberated Art , organized by Kurt Teubner , took place in Aue . Several works by Ernst Hecker could be seen here. Hecker had his studio on Bockauer Strasse.

In the GDR he increasingly switched to drawing portraits of his fellow men, mostly workers. For example, the portrait of Paul Adler, which was given the title After Work , was successfully exhibited at the art exhibition in Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1962 and then bought by the Central Committee of the SED . Numerous orders for portraits of working people followed, such as the portrait of the labor researcher Hans Richter or Clear Heads - Honest Work . His love was for the common man , the "coppersmith" (pencil drawing), the singing mother , the old jerks . These works are excellent in the circle of their attitude towards life.

From 1973 onwards, Hecker and other local artists such as Hans Weiß , Kurt Teubner and Helmut Humann used a visual arts exhibition pavilion on the Altmarkt in Aue, where he could also offer his works for sale.
