Ernst Konstantin (Hessen-Philippsthal)
Ernst Konstantin von Hessen-Philippsthal (born August 8, 1771 in Philippsthal , † December 25, 1849 in Meiningen ) from the House of Hesse was paraged Landgrave of Hesse-Philippsthal .
Life
Ernst Konstantin was the youngest son of Landgrave Wilhelm von Hessen-Philippsthal (1726–1810) from his marriage to Ulrike Eleonore (1732–1795), daughter of Landgrave Wilhelm von Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld .
Until 1796 he was an officer in the Dutch service. In 1797 he acquired the porcelain factory in Volkstedt , which he sold again two years later.
In 1808 he became Grand Chamberlain to the King of Westphalia , Jérôme Bonaparte . After the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1813 and the restoration of Kurhessen and the Paragium of Hessen-Philippsthal, Ernst Konstantin succeeded his brother Ludwig as Landgrave of Hessen-Philippsthal in 1816 . He returned to the Dutch service, where he was appointed general.
Ernst Konstantin was a member of the Freemasons Association .

Ernst Konstantin was his first marriage on April 10, 1796 in Rudolstadt Luise (1775-1808), daughter of Prince Friedrich Carl von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt (1736-1793), with whom he had the following children:
