Wilhelm (Hessen-Philippsthal)
Wilhelm von Hessen-Philippsthal (born August 29, 1726 in Philippsthal ; † August 8, 1810 ibid) from the House of Hesse was paraged Landgrave of Hesse-Philippsthal .
Life
Wilhelm was the eldest son of the paraged Landgrave Karl I of Hessen-Philippsthal from his marriage to Katharine Christine (1699–1743), daughter of Duke Johann Wilhelm von Sachsen-Eisenach . He followed his father in 1770 as Landgrave of Hessen-Philippsthal.
Wilhelm became General of the Cavalry and Governor of Herzogenbusch in the Dutch service . He was also Commander of the Order of St. John the Coming Lagow . In 1806 Philippsthal was occupied by the French and the territory of Wilhelm was incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia .
Wilhelm was a member of the Federation of Freemasons .

Wilhelm married his cousin Ulrike Eleonore (* April 27, 1732 - February 2, 1795) in Tournai on June 26, 1755 , daughter of Landgrave Wilhelm von Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld , with whom he had the following children:
