Count Philip II of Schaumburg-Lippe

Philipp Ernst (born July 5, 1723 in Rinteln , † February 13, 1787 in Bückeburg ) was Count of Schaumburg-Lippe from 1777 to 1787 .

Life

He was the son of Count Friedrich Ernst zu Lippe-Alverdissen (1694–1777) and his wife Elisabeth Philippine von Friesenhausen (1696–1764). In 1777 Philip II Ernst succeeded his uncle Count Wilhelm after he had died without heirs.

In 1756, he married his first wife in Weimar Princess Ernestine Albertine of Saxe-Weimar (1722-1769), the daughter of the Duke Ernst August of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and his wife Eleonore Wilhelmine of Anhalt-Köthen. The marriage had four children: Clemens August Ernst (* / † 1757), Karl Wilhelm Friedrich (1759–1780), Georg Karl Friedrich (1760–1776) and Friederike Antoinette (1762–1777).

In his second marriage in 1780 in Philippsthal ( Hersfeld district ) , the count married Princess Juliane Wilhelmine Luise von Hessen-Philippsthal (* 1761, † 1799), the daughter of Landgrave Wilhelm von Hessen-Philippsthal and his wife Ulrike Eleonore von Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld.
