Georg Wilhelm of Schaumburg-Lippe (* 20th December 1784 in Bückeburg ; † 21st November 1860 ibid) was from 1787 - initially under the regency of his mother - to 1807 Count of Schaumburg-Lippe , and subsequently after joining the Confederation of the Rhine first Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe . From 1842 to 1860 he owned the Nachod rule in Eastern Bohemia.

Life

He was the son of Count Philipp II (1723–1787) and his second wife, Princess Juliane von Hessen-Philippsthal (1761–1799), a daughter of Landgrave Wilhelm von Hessen-Philippsthal and Princess Ulrike Eleonore von Hessen-Philippsthal- Barchfeld.

In 1816 Georg Wilhelm issued a first corporate constitution, and in 1854 his country joined the Prussian customs area.

In 1847 he had the Idaturm built for his wife, and in 1848 he had the Wilhelmsturm built near Wölpinghausen .

In 1816 Georg Wilhelm married in Arolsen Princess Ida Karoline Luise of Waldeck-Pyrmont (1796-1869), a daughter of Prince Georg of Waldeck-Pyrmont and Princess Augusta of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. The marriage, which all reports said was harmonious, had nine children:
