George I (Waldeck-Pyrmont)
Prince Georg I von Waldeck and Pyrmont (born May 6, 1747 in Arolsen ; † September 9, 1813 in Pyrmont ) was Count of Pyrmont from 1805 to 1813 and, after the death of his brother Friedrich Karl August, Prince of Waldeck and from 1812 to 1813 Pyrmont.
Life
Georg I was the son of Prince Karl August Friedrich von Waldeck (1704–1763) and Christiane (1725–1816), daughter of Count Palatine Christian III. to Birkenfeld . So he belonged to the Waldeck family . On September 24, 1812 he became sovereign Prince of Waldeck, Pyrmont and Rappoltstein . Like his brother Friedrich Karl August, Georg joined the Rhine Confederation in April 1807 , which saved both the County of Pyrmont and the Principality of Waldeck from merging into the Napoleonic Kingdom of Westphalia like the neighboring states .
