Ernst Kranz

Ernst Kranz (born June 28, 1950 in Gerstungen ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the German Bundestag .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1969, Kranz did his military service in the National People's Army and began studying at the Technical University of Merseburg in 1971 , which he finished in 1975 as a graduate industrial engineer for IT and business administration . Then Kranz worked in the IT control center of the combine management of VVB Bau- und Grobkeramik in Halle / Saale . In 1983 he switched to the VEB Dentalfabrik in Treffurt as IT manager . Most recently, Kranz worked from 1985 to 1990 as operations manager for the deployment and use of personal computers at VEB Anlagenbau Petkus in Wutha-Farnroda .

Ernst Kranz is married and has three children.

After leaving the German Bundestag, Ernst Kranz worked from autumn 2010 to January 2014 as managing director of the "Kommunalen Bildungswerk Thüringen eV (kbwt)".

Ernst Kranz has been a committed member of the Social Association of People's Solidarity since 1991, and has been a member of the district committee "Meiningen-Schmalkalden of People's Solidarity" since 2000. In November 2012, Ernst Kranz was elected district chairman. In November 2014 Ernst Kranz was awarded the bronze solidarity pin by the state chairman of the people's solidarity, Frank-Michael Pietzsch, in the Augustinian monastery in Erfurt for his voluntary work.

Political party

After previously being non-party, Kranz joined the Social Democratic Party in the GDR in December 1989 . From 1994 to 2000 he was deputy chairman of the SPD district association Wartburgkreis and from 1998 to 2004 he was also a member of the state executive committee of the SPD in Thuringia .

Kranz has been a member of the district council of the Wartburg district since 1994 and of the municipal council of his place of residence Wutha-Farnroda from 2004 to February 25, 2014 .

From 2002 to 2009, Kranz was a member of the German Bundestag.

Ernst Kranz entered the Bundestag in 2002 and 2005 as a directly elected member of the constituency constituency Eisenach - Wartburgkreis - Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis II . In the 2005 Bundestag election , he achieved 35.3% of the first votes .

In the 2009 Bundestag election , he received 22.6% of the first votes in his constituency and lost his mandate to the CDU's direct candidate, Christian Hirte .

Public offices

Kranz was the full-time mayor of the municipality of Wutha-Farnroda from 1990 to 2002 .
