Ernst Neuhauser (born July 17, 1928 in Wels ; † July 16, 1997 ibid) was an Upper Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and postal worker. Neuhauser was a member of the National Council from 1970 to 1972 and a regional councilor in the Upper Austrian provincial government from 1972 to 1988 .

education and profession

Neuhauser attended elementary and secondary school in Wels and then completed a commercial vocational school in Wels. He was then drafted into the German Wehrmacht and did not return from captivity until 1946. He subsequently entered the service of the Austrian Post and Telegraph Service and received a position as chief inspector . After Neuhauser had been elected Vice Mayor of Wels, he worked as Vice President of the Welser Messe between 1963 and 1979 and held the office of President from 1979 to 1994. As President of the Welser Messe, he was awarded the professional title of Commercial Councilor.

politics

Shortly after joining the post, Neuhauser became involved in the postal union and was active as a union official from 1948. After he had been elected to the municipal council of Wels in 1961, he took over the post of first deputy mayor in 1963, which he held until 1970. Neuhauser resigned from the office of Vice Mayor after he had been sworn in as a member of the National Council on March 31, 1970 and held the National Council mandate until October 19, 1972. During this time Neuhauser was also parliamentary group chairman of the SPÖ Wels from 1970 to 1972. Neuhauser resigned from his National Council mandate in 1972 to move to the Upper Austrian provincial government. He replaced the resigned Deputy Governor Josef Fridl and was sworn in on October 24, 1972. He subsequently belonged to the state governments of Wenzl I and II as well as Ratzenböck I , II and III , where he especially managed the housing department. In addition, he ran in the respective state elections, but he never accepted a mandate and was therefore never a member of the state parliament. Neuhauser was a member of the state government until November 41, 1988 and resigned for health reasons and internal party differences in housing policy. He was said to have “jovinal shirt sleeves” and a “rough-hearted expression”, whereby he was particularly committed to the revitalization of houses and districts.

In addition to his political offices, Neuhauser also exercised the functions of city party chairman of the SPÖ-Wels and that of district chairman of the SPÖ Wels-Land. In 1991 he also resigned from the local council. In terms of sport, Neuhauser was active as a connector at the Wels football club Blaue Elf and was subsequently vice-president of the ASKÖ and president of the ASKÖ Upper Austria from 1974.
