Ernst Payer
Ernst Payer (born November 28, 1862 in Eisenerz , † April 23, 1937 in Vienna ) was an Austrian genre and landscape painter .
Payer studied at the Landscape Drawing Academy in Graz under Hermann von Königsbrunn and from 1880 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Josef Mathias Trenkwald . In 1884 he received the Karl Gsellhofer scholarship . From 1896 Payer was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus , from 1900 to 1905 he was a founding member of the Hagenbund , then again of the Künstlerhaus. In 1917 he was appointed professor.
Until around 1904, Payer provided illustrations for the magazines Die Zeit and Der liebe Augustin . Some of his works appeared in the form of postcards. He went on study trips through Dalmatia , Italy and Hungary .
