Ernst Rainer Weissenbacher

Ernst Rainer Weissenbacher (born May 23, 1944 in Bad Tölz ) is a German gynecologist and was the head of the polyclinic for gynecology and obstetrics at the University of Munich Clinic , Großhadern campus .

Life

After completing elementary school and early secondary school in Bad Tölz, Ernst Rainer Weissenbacher attended the Luitpold secondary school in Munich from 1959 to 1964, from which he graduated in 1964. This was followed by medical studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 1964 to 1970, where he passed his state examination in June 1970 with the grade "very good". In the same year, the dissertation was carried out with " cum laude ". The topic of the thesis was: Comparative studies on the dose-dependency of gastric secretion after stimulation with gastrin-analogous oligopeptides . Ernst Rainer Weissenbacher received his license to practice medicine on August 31, 1971 .

He spent his time as assistant in the years 1970–1971 at the Surgical University Clinic in Munich and at the First Medical Clinic of the Technical University of Munich on the right of the Isar. 1971–1982 he was a scientific assistant in the II. Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at LMU Munich , later Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at LMU Munich - Großhadern.

In 1977 Ernst Rainer Weissenbacher was nominated as a private lecturer and received his habilitation on November 15, 1978. The subject of the habilitation was: Investigations into the colonization of the female urogenital tract with mycoplasms and urea plasmas . On September 1, 1982 he was appointed C 2 Professor for life, on November 11, 1998 he was appointed C 3 Professor for life.

Ernst Rainer Weissenbacher is a specialist in the care of high-risk pregnancies and the treatment of genital infections. He is vehemently committed to the fight against cervical cancer caused by human papillomavirus . Apart from measures for early detection (so-called HPV test), he also advocates vaccination with Gardasil in order to eradicate this type of cancer in the long term. The vaccination should not only be given to girls before their first sexual intercourse, as has been the norm up to now, but also to all sexually active women regardless of age.
