Ernst Victor Schmorl (born March 6, 1822 in Meißen , † August 1, 1881 in Hanover ) was a German bookseller .

Life

family

Ernst Victor Schmorl was the father of Oscar Schmorl and grandfather of Fritz Schmorl.

Career

Ernst Victor Schmorl completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller at FA Helm in Halberstadt from 1838 to 1842 .

Schmorl was already based in Hanover in 1848 and founded the men's gymnastics club Hanover from 1848 together with Alfred von Seefeld and others .

From 1849 Schmorl worked at the Helwing'schen Buchhandlung , where a friendship with von Seefeld deepened. Until 1851 Schmorl was also active in several bookshops in Leipzig .

1852 Partner of friends: Ernst Victor and Alfred founded on February 1 in Hanover the bookstore Schmorl & Seefeld in the Bahnhofstrasse at Kröpcke , which went into bankruptcy in 2005 and thereafter from the bookstore Hugendubel was acquired.
