Alfred von Seefeld

Alfred von Seefeld (born August 25, 1825 in Berlin , † August 12, 1893 in Hanover ) was a German bookseller and publisher . He was elevated to the Prussian nobility on May 19, 1890.

Life

Alfred von Seefeld was initially an apprentice from 1842 to 1851, then an assistant in the Helwing'schen bookstore in Hanover under the then owner Carl Mierzinsky.

In 1848 von Seefeld founded the men's gymnastics club Hanover from 1848 together with Ernst Victor Schmorl, who had just moved from Halberstadt , and others . On February 1, 1852, von Seefeld and his friend founded their own bookstore, the Schmorl & von Seefeld company at Bahnhofstrasse 14 am Kröpcke . In 1857 von Seefeld joined the Hanover Art Association and wrote a chronicle for it for the 50th anniversary in 1892 . After the death of his friend and business partner, von Seefeld continued to run the bookstore on his own, supported by the two authorized representatives Carl and Georg Knothe.

Works

In addition to the anniversary chronicle for the Hanover Art Association, von Seefeld published various poems and writings in the in-house publishing house. The work Simplest Cookbook. In addition to an introduction to the natural way of life , it was widely used with twenty-one editions.

He married Emilie Eddelbüttel on September 16, 1862 (April 11, 1840 - February 23, 1868). The couple had a son: Hermann Viktor Heinrich (* December 21, 1863; † 1943), who became a real secret councilor and married Ide Karoline Creszentina Wurm (* February 22, 1869)
