Ernst Vollrad von Criwitz (born October 23, 1740 in Berlin , † February 24, 1814 in Kyritz ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

His parents were the quartermaster of the Gensdarmes Ernst Vollrad Criwitz and his wife Katharina Sophie, née Heyden. His father became the controller of the Berlin stamp chamber on June 20, 1745.

Military career

In 1759 Criwitz joined the “Prince of Prussia” cuirassier regiment of the Prussian Army as a simple cuirassier . During the Seven Years' War he fought in the battles of Liegnitz , Torgau , Reichenbach and the sieges of Schweidnitz and Dresden. In 1760 he was promoted to cornet and on February 27, 1767 to second lieutenant .

In 1778/79 Criwitz took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession and rose to Rittmeister and company commander by mid-December 1790 . In the First Coalition War he fought in the siege of Mainz (1793) and the battle of Kaiserslautern . After the war he became major on March 15, 1797 with a patent on January 17, 1795 . On March 15, 1800, he was transferred as a lieutenant colonel and assistant to the 3rd Department ( artillery ) of the Upper War College, which meant a salary of 1200 thalers. There he was promoted to colonel on May 25, 1800 . On July 2, 1804, he received an allowance of 500 thalers and on January 8, 1805, he was appointed assessor . Associated with this was an annual salary of 2000 thalers. After the lost Fourth Coalition War , Criwitz received his departure on December 26, 1808 as major general with a pension of 800 thalers . He died unmarried in Kyritz on February 24, 1814.
