Ernst Wilhelm von Graevenitz (born October 29, 1693 in Hasselburg (Altmark), † February 25, 1765 in Schilde ) was a Prussian officer and administrative officer.

origin

Ernst Wilhelm von Graevenitz came from the Schilde line of his primeval Altmark family. He was the son of the Prussian district administrator of the Prignitz Joachim von Graevenitz (1663-1740), landlord of Dodow and Schilde, and Clara Eleonore von Gadenstedt (1660-1700).

Life and career

As was customary with the Prussian aristocratic families , he first entered the Prussian army as a professional soldier. In his professional military career, however, he only made it to the rank of Prussian captain , since after the death of his father in 1740 he inherited his property Schilde and Gottberg and then retired from active service. In addition to managing his estates, he also worked in local administration and became regional director of the Prignitz , a position that corresponded to the size of the position of a local district administrator, but was superior to this as a direct state official. In addition to his administrative duties, he was director , that is, secular director, of the Protestant women's monastery in Heiligengrabe in Prignitz. In addition to these administrative tasks, the feudal-courtly office of an inherited food of the Mark Brandenburg has held since 1763 .

Ernst Wilhelm von Graevenitz was married twice: first from 1727 to Louise von Rohr (* November 22, 1708 - † July 11, 1736), then from 1737 to Helene von Rohr (* 1712 - † November 22, 1803), his sister first wife. His son was the Rittmeister Georg Friedrich von Graevenitz (* December 21, 1741, † January 12, 1778) founder of the Schilde-Quetz line. He was married to Dorothea Elisabeth von Kaphengst († October 8, 1810) from the Bresch family. Georg Friedrich was buried in the crypt of the Berlin garrison church. His daughter Julia Sophie (born March 26, 1729; † August 20, 1811) was married to Major General Georg Ludwig von Wiersbitzki .
