Erol Afşin

Erol Afşin (* 1989 in Adana , Turkey) is a Turkish actor who works mainly in German.

Life

Afşin's mother tongues are Zazaki , Turkish and Kurdish . He came to Germany at the age of 18.

He had his first stage appearance in the Ballhaus Naunynstraße in the 2010/11 season in Nurkan Erpulat's Verrücktes Blut . The play played on national and international stages and in 2011 was named “German-language play of the year” by Theater heute .

In 2011 he played the lead role of Omer Argun in the Australian short film The Palace . After these two productions he was admitted to the Folkwang University of the Arts in April 2011 to study drama. He also studied at the State Conservatory in Istanbul in 2013/2014.

During his studies he stood in front of the camera in the French film Mustang . The film celebrated its world premiere at the 2015 Cannes International Film Festival . Shortly after graduating, Erol played under the direction of Züli Aladağ for the WDR television film Die Victims - Don't Forget Me . He also stood at the side of Til Schweiger for the Tatort movie Tschiller: Off Duty in front of the camera. In the 5th season of the US series Homeland , he played the recurring role as Utku .
