Erol Mutlu

Erol Mutlu (born March 1, 1952 ) is a former Turkish wrestler . He was an Olympian in 1976 in Montreal (7th place in the lightweight, Greco-Roman style).

Career

Erol Mutlu is a former Turkish wrestler. He used the Greco-Roman style. In 1972 he appeared for the first time at an international championship, the European Championships in Katowice . He remained there in featherweight without a win and took 14th place in featherweight.

In 1974 he improved to 8th place at the European lightweight championship in Madrid . He managed a victory over the Czech Ladislav Nepustil. He was defeated in Madrid by Heinz-Helmut Wehling from the GDR and Schamil Chissamutdinow from the USSR , two absolute world-class wrestlers of the time.

In the following years he participated several times in World and European Championships and in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal . He achieved his best result at the European Championships in Bursa in 1977 , where he took third place in the lightweight with four victories and thus won an EM bronze medal.

In his only participation in the Olympic Games, he came in 1976 in Montreal in lightweight on the 7th place in the lightweight. He defeated Erasmo Estrada from Cuba and Markku Yli-Isotalo from Finland and was defeated by Manfred Schöndorfer from the Federal Republic of Germany and Lars-Erik Skiöld from Sweden .

In 1978 he took a good 6th place at the European Championships in Oslo with victories over Lars-Erik Skiöld and Reinhard Hartmann from Austria . After a disappointing 13th place at the 1978 World Cup in Mexico City , where he lost to Alexander Aliyev from the Soviet Union and Nikolai Donow from Bulgaria , he ended his international wrestling career.

He then fought for VfK Schifferstadt and KSV Kirrlach in the German Bundesliga for many years .
