Erwin Gaber

Erwin Gaber (born October 7, 1903 in Mannheim ; † March 31, 1986 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer and president of the Federal Insurance Agency for Salaried Employees .

Life

Gaber graduated from the Reform Gymnasium in Mannheim in 1922. From 1922 to 1924 he completed a bank apprenticeship in his hometown, where he also found his first job as a foreign correspondent in the Rheinische Gummi- and Zelluloidfabrik . From 1925 Gaber studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . During his studies he became a member of the student union Landsmannschaft Zaringia . In 1930 he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD ; he passed the legal traineeship in 1928 and the assessor exam in 1931. After working for a year as a land registry judge in Pforzheim and Karlsruhe , Gaber was transferred to the Reichsversicherungsanstalt für employee in Berlin in 1932 , where he worked until 1944. In 1935 he was appointed to the government council and five years later to the senior government council. In 1944 Gaber was drafted into the Wehrmacht and in 1945 was taken prisoner by the Soviets , from which he was released again relatively quickly. From 1946 to 1948 Gaber worked as a lawyer in Mannheim. Between 1949 and 1953 he worked as a labor judge. Finally, Erwin Gaber held the office of President of the Federal Insurance Institute for Salaried Employees from 1953 to 1968 . He was also an honorary professor at the Technical University of Berlin .
