Erwin Haller

Erwin Haller ( March 12, 1885 in Rein, Rüfenach municipality in the canton of Aargau ; † 1971 ) was a Swiss German studies specialist and teacher.

Life

Erwin Haller was the son of pastor Erwin Friedrich Haller and Angelika Marie Haller, née Schwaab (1840–1918). He grew up with four siblings, one older brother was the writer Paul Haller .

He studied German and history at the University of Zurich as well as in Munich and Berlin . From 1926 to 1956 he was a district school teacher in Aarau . He headed the Swiss Federation for Simplified Spelling for several years as its President.

After the suicide of his brother Paul, Erwin Haller published his works in critical editions and wrote a biography of him. He administered Paul Haller's personal and literary estate, which is now in the Aargau State Archives .
