Erwin Hauer

Erwin Hauer (born January 18, 1926 in Vienna , † December 22, 2017 in Branford , Connecticut ) was an Austrian - American sculptor .

In the 1950s, the Austrian sculptor Erwin Hauer made so-called "Architectural Screens" based on organic and flowing sculptures that were influenced by Henry Moore , Félix Candela or Frei Otto : cast, sprayed, milled relief-like stone, acrylic , Laminate and aluminum walls perforated with modular openings. From 1957 to 1990 he taught at Yale University .

In 1999, Hauer was elected a member ( NA ) of the National Academy of Design in New York .
