Erwin Köstler (politician)

Erwin Köstler (born April 3, 1928 in Ardagger , Upper Austria ; † September 24, 1993 in Großraming , Upper Austria) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

Erwin Köstler passed the Matura after attending compulsory school and secondary school .

Erwin Köstler died just three years after leaving the Federal Council, at the age of 65.

politics

At a young age he became involved in the ÖVP and rose within his party to the position of district party secretary for the Amstetten district .

He also became secretary in the farmers' union , in which he was elected director for Upper Austria in 1976.

In October 1979 Köstler was sworn in in Vienna as a member of the Federal Council, to which he was to belong for over 10 years until December 1989. While Köstler was Deputy Chairman in the first half of 1988, he was already President of the Federal Council in the second half of 1988 .
