Live and act

The son of a government official had studied law and economics at the university and then worked as a journalist and newspaper editor. In his 20s, Kreker began to write manuscripts for films and publish his own plays. His (mostly cheerful) theatrical works include “Celebrities in private”, “The Magician”, “The Divorce Lawyer”, “The Honest Loser” and “Frau Sperling's Raritätenladen” - the latter Kreker play was co-authored in 1997 by colleague Horst Pillau for television Heidi Kabel adapted in the lead role.

Erwin Kreker wrote only 15 scripts for the feature film - always in collaboration with colleagues - including two late Harry Piel sensation stories. In addition, from 1947 to 1949 he was the author of a number of advertising and documentary films for DEFA , some of which were also directed by Kreker and supervised as production manager. He was hardly active in the feature film after 1945.
