Erwin Rasinger
Erwin Rasinger (born July 30, 1952 in Vienna ) is an Austrian doctor, politician ( ÖVP ). From 1994 to 2017 he was a member of the Austrian National Council with interruptions .
education and profession
Erwin Rasinger attended elementary school from 1958 to 1962 and then to 1970 the Kalksburg college . After graduating from high school, Rasinger studied medicine at the University of Vienna from 1970 and graduated in 1978 with the academic degree Dr. med. univ. from. From 1970 to 1973 Rasinger also studied business administration at the University for World Trade .
Rasinger has been working as a general practitioner since 1982 and - as of 2017 - sits on the supervisory board of the biotech company Apeiron Biologics.
politics
Rasinger's political activity began when he was a student, when he was a student representative at the former medical faculty. During his training he was also a regular doctor representative . From 1981 to 1987 he was environmental protection officer of the Austrian Medical Association and from 1985 to 1994 environmental protection officer of the Medical Association for Vienna. Rasinger has been the Presidential Advisor to the Medical Association for Vienna since 1985.
Between 1987 and 1991 he was a member of the Vienna City Council and a member of the Vienna State Parliament. Since November 7, 1994, he has represented the ÖVP in the National Council and is health spokesman for the ÖVP parliamentary club. Since 1999, with a short break, he has been deputy chairman of the health committee. According to his own statements, his political priorities include preventive medicine, the improvement of aftercare, humanity in medicine, optimal medicine that is accessible and affordable for everyone, sports medicine and manual medicine.
After the National Council election in Austria in 2008 , Rasinger initially no longer had a seat in the National Council due to the lower mandate of his party, but he succeeded in his mandate by appointing Josef Pröll as Vice Chancellor and was sworn in again on December 3, 2008.
Controversy
Rasinger became known to a wider public when he criticized the clothing style of some MPs in May 2014, namely those of Julian Schmid and Matthias Strolz . He also complained about the behavior of school groups that visit parliament, because some of them were lying around in the pillared hall.
