Erwin Schwendinger

Erwin Schwendinger (* 11. March 1911 in Herisau ; † 15. May 1995 ibid ; of Dornbirn , heimatberechtigt 1924 in Herisau) was a Swiss cantonal parliament , Government and National Council of the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes .

Life

Erwin Schwendinger was a son of Friedrich Schwendinger, Schiffli - Sticker , and Mina Schiess. In 1937 he married Marie Anna Ege, daughter of Martin Ege, a carpenter . He worked as a laborer because an apprenticeship was not possible for economic reasons. From 1936 he worked at Suhner & Co . in Herisau and was promoted to foreman . From 1948 to 1954 was a local council in Herisau. From 1951 to 1954 he sat in the Ausserrhoder Cantonal Council as a representative of the Social Democratic Party (SP). From 1954 to 1976 he was a member of the government, from 1955 to 1974 he was a member of the National Council. Despite initial sympathy, Schwendinger committed himself to an anti-communist course after the communists came to power in the SP Herisau in 1944 and transformed it into a communist workers 'and peasants' party . In the same year he was co-founder of the new SP Herisau, which he later presided over. Among other things, he was Vice President of the Eastern Switzerland Radio and Television Company and a member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Accident Insurance Fund (SUVA).
