Erwin Sturm

Erwin Sturm (born May 12, 1927 in Fulda ; † May 4, 2016 in Rommerz ) was a German Catholic prelate and local history researcher .

Life

Erwin Sturm experienced the Second World War as an air force helper and in the Reich Labor Service , most recently as a member of the Wehrmacht . After graduating from high school in 1947 at the municipal high school in Fulda, he entered the Fulda seminary and studied philosophy and Catholic theology until 1953 at the theological university in Fulda and was involved in youth work in the Fulda cathedral parish. The bishop of Fulda , Johannes Baptist Dietz , ordained him as a priest on July 19, 1953 . From 1953 to 1958 he was chaplain in Frankenberg , then until 1963 in the city parish of Hanau . He then spent over four decades priest in Rommerz (municipality Neuhof , Kreis Fulda) as a priest working. In 2013 he celebrated his diamond jubilee as a priest with a festive service with Bishop Heinz Josef Algermissen as celebrant .

He has published numerous works and writings on architectural and art monuments of the Fuldaer Land and the Rhön. For the Fuldaer Zeitung he regularly wrote the “ beech leaves ”. In 1971 he was appointed to the Historical Commission for Hesse .
