Erwin Fritz Karl August von Sigel (born August 14, 1884 in Bromberg , † January 2, 1967 in South Haven , Michigan ) was a German medium and long-distance runner .

biography

Erwin von Sigel played hockey in his youth and was an artistic gymnast before switching to athletics in 1905. For the Olympic Games in London in 1908 , it was intended for the medium and long-distance run, but for unknown reasons it could not make the trip.

At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 he reached the final over 1500 m , but did not make it into the top eight. In the 3000 meter team race , he was eliminated in the preliminary run.

In 1907 , 1909 and 1912 he was German champion over 1500 m .

Erwin von Sigel started for SC Preußen Berlin . After the Second World War he emigrated to the United States.
