Esaias Hickmann

Esaias (also Esajas) Hickmann (born December 11, 1638 in Dippoldiswalde , † September 29, 1691 in Weida ) was a German lawyer and composer .

Life

Esaias Hickmann jun. was the son of the Dippoldiswalder deacon Esaias Hickmann sen. (1608–1672) and Maria von Pufendorf (1609–1677) from Flöha . He was enrolled at the University of Jena on July 22, 1657 . His compositional works have come down to us through the so-called collection of Samuel Jacobi . He later worked as an official advocate and legal counsel in Neustadt / Orla and Weida and was a student of Sebastian Knüpfer . In Weida he also took on "matters of the Collegium Musicum (founded in 1651) ". He had a lively correspondence with his relative Samuel von Pufendorf . His son, who was also called Esaias Hickmann, was born in Neustadt / Orla in 1670 and died in Naumburg in 1723 .
