The Escalante is an impact crater in the southeast of Terra Cimmeria on the planet Mars . It is located at 0.19 ° north near the Martian equator and at 115.39 ° west. In the northwest there is the crater Knobel and Amenthes Rupes and in the northeast the crater Palos . Escalante has an average diameter of 75.26 kilometers.

The International Astronomical Union named the crater in 1973 after the Mexican astronomer Francisco Javier Escalante Plancarte (1887–1972), who discovered the crater around 1930.
