The Escalante , also known as " El Apagado ", is a stratovolcano in the Antofagasta Region (Region II) in the north of Chile ; it lies directly on the border with Bolivia in the Andes .

The Escalante belongs to a volcanic group north of the Sairecabur (5971 m) and has a crater lake on the summit.
