Esenyaka is a village in the Turkish province of Artvin in the district of Yusufeli . The area lies in the Black Sea region . The village is about 29 km from the district town of Yusufeli on the slopes of a valley. The previous place name was Arakos.
history
The population emigrated from the village in 1879 during the Russo-Ottoman War and came back after the war. Esenyaka was founded around 150 years ago. Esenyaka's previous name was Zor. A severe flood around 35 years ago destroyed possible evidence of an earlier history. Due to immigration, the village is home to a large number of Georgians who still speak their language and cultivate their culture.
In the 1970s and 1980s, many emigrated from the village and into the EU , most of them to Germany and France.
Georgian and Turkish are spoken in the village .
