The Estádio Municipal Jacy Scaff , better known under the name "Estádio do Café" , is a football stadium in the Brazilian city of Londrina , Paraná state . The teams of the Londrina EC and Associação Portuguesa Londrinense play their home games here. Jacy Scaff was a past president of the Londrina EC and the nickname Estádio do Café comes from the fact that coffee is one of the city's main commodities .
history
Construction began on August 1, 1974. The city-owned sports facility was then opened on August 22, 1976. It is located about 4 km from the city center. The stadium offers 45,000 seats; For safety reasons, however, only 31,019 spectator seats (3,000 of which are covered) are used. The first game was played by the Londrina EC and Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . The game in front of about 50,000 people ended in a 1: 1 draw. Three days later the floodlights were inaugurated with the game Londrina EC against Corinthians São Paulo (1-0) . The horseshoe- shaped sports complex is right next to the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna race track in Londrina. A drainage system was installed for the playing field in 1976 . In 1978 came on February 15, 54,178 spectators for the game of Londrina EC against the Corinthians São Paulo (1-0) in the stadium; which is the record number of visitors to a football game to this day.
