Career

society

Paredes spent the first nine years of his professional career with the Chilean teams Santiago Morning , Deportes Puerto Montt , CD Universidad de Concepción and CD Cobreloa, as well as the Mexican club Pachuca Juniors . He began his professional career in 2000 with the Chilean second division club Santiago Morning. In three years it was only used irregularly there. For this reason, the morning managers decided to lend the offensive player to Deportes Puerto Montt. With Montt, where Parades got more match practice, you could win the Primera División B. After returning to Santiago, the attacker only stayed one season before moving to another club.

For the 2004 season he signed with CD Universidad de Concepción. There he came in the same year for his first appearance in the Copa Libertadores . After just one year, Paredes moved on and joined the Mexican club Pachuca Juniors abroad . With the newcomer there, the offensive Chilean only stayed until 2005 before he returned to his hometown club Santiago Morning. There he made his breakthrough on the second attempt. In 2007 Paredes was loaned by CD Cobreaola, but soon returned to Santiago. In the Apertura 2009 he scored 17 goals for Santiago Morning , making it the league's top scorer. Then his wish to play for a top club became a reality. He moved to Clausura 2009 to the Chilean record champion CSD Colo-Colo , which Lucas Barrios had just given to Borussia Dortmund .

With Colo Colo he immediately won the Chilean championship, and he contributed six goals in 15 games. He scored two goals in the final second leg against CD Universidad Católica in his team's 4-2 victory. With a total of 26 league goals, he was 14th on the world scorers list this year.

National team

On August 16, 2006 Parades made his debut for the Chilean national team against Colombia . After another three appearances as a substitute this year, he came back to an international match in May 2009. In the game against Denmark on August 12, 2009, he scored his first international goal. In qualifying for the 2010 World Cup , he was only substituted on in the last group game against Ecuador , when Chile had already qualified.

In 2010 he played himself increasingly in the foreground with the national team. He scored three goals in four games by the start of the 2010 World Cup and was deservedly named to the Chilean squad for the 2010 World Cup . The two-footed, excellent free-kick taker is considered the first alternative to the seeded striker Humberto Suazo . During the World Cup tournament Parades made two appearances in the dress of his home country.
