Esteio is a city with 83,121 (2018 estimate) inhabitants in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil . It is located about 15 km north of Porto Alegre . The towns of Sapucaia do Sul , Canoas , Nova Santa Rita and Cachoeirinha are neighboring . Esteio was originally part of the São Leopoldo municipality.
