Esther Good (born January 30, 1987 ) is a former Swiss ski racer . She started in all disciplines and achieved her best performances in slalom and giant slalom as well as in the combination .
biography
Esther Good won the giant slalom at the Trofeo Topolino in 2002 . She contested her first FIS races in December of the same year and was among the top ten for the first time in January 2004. In the winter of 2005/06 Good, who was then part of the Swiss Ski Association's C-team , was unable to take part in any races due to an injury. The results of the 2006/07 season were not good enough, so that she was relegated to the regional association after the end of the season from the Swiss C-squad.
Good continued to compete in FIS races and national championships and scored her first podium in an FIS race on January 14, 2009. She had contested her first race in the European Cup six days earlier . From the 2009/10 season she started regularly in the European Cup and achieved top 10 results in the disciplines of slalom, giant slalom and super combined from the start. Therefore, she was given the opportunity to drive her first World Cup races in Lienz at the end of December . However, she did not achieve her goal of winning World Cup points for the first time: In the giant slalom, she was eliminated in the first round and in the slalom, she failed to qualify for the second round. In the European Cup she achieved her first podium finish on January 11, 2010 with second place in the super combination of Caspoggio , with which she also achieved second place in the discipline classification. With a total of eleven top 10 placements, she was also the best Swiss woman, eleventh place in the slalom ranking and twelfth place in the overall ranking.
With their achievements, Good made the jump from the regional association back to the A-squad of Swiss-Ski for the 2010/11 season. At the beginning of this season she made a total of seven World Cup starts, but never made it to the second round, which is why she was used again in the European Cup for the rest of the season - but without being able to match her results from the previous year. She also took part in several races in the Nor-Am Cup . On December 1, 2010, she achieved a podium finish with third place in the giant slalom in Aspen . In March 2011 Good became Swiss slalom champion , but after the season she was relegated from the A to the B squad. During the entire winter of 2011/12, Good could not take part in any races and hardly train due to an inflammation of the periosteum on her shin, after which she announced her retirement from skiing in April 2012.
